You have some serious feelings that are only continuing to grow for a man you’ve been on a few dates with. But every time things seem to heat up, he backs off. He's an amazing guy, and you really want things to work out, but you’re afraid he may not be feeling the same thing you are and it seems too early to bring up status issues.

When he calls to ask you out after he hasn't contacted you for two weeks, you’ve hit your limit. You could say something or just walk away, so how would you handle this?

I often hear woman complain that all their friends are either married or in relationships, insinuating that being single makes them inadequate. But ones relationship status is a funny thing because my married friends constantly tell me that they're living vicariously through me, yet so many single woman are envious of those who are settled down and off the market. I have definitely warded off an approaching jerk by mentioning a fictional boyfriend. But that’s about the only time I’ll blatantly lie about my relationship status. One of my friends always lies to her grandparents and tells them she’s dating when she’s not to avoid their constant pressure. And of course, there are many people, unfortunately, who gladly lie about being in a relationship in order to appear single. So tell me ladies, do you ever lie about your relationship status? Source

Dear Sugar,

I met this great guy a month ago and he is truly wonderful. We had our first kiss on Valentine's Day (yeah, I know, kind of cliche but I don't care!) and ever since we have been going out on dates. We hold hands, hug, kiss, hook up, but we haven't yet had sex. Anyway, I met his parents a week ago, we had dinner at their house, and they acted like they've known me for years (mind you, this was only the second time meeting them!). He has even told me that he wants to spend more quality time with me and he hates leaving me. But here's the thing, we aren't necessarily boyfriend/girlfriend. My question is when would it be appropriate to bring up this topic with him? Is it too soon to label our relationship?

Dear Sugar,

I have been dating this guy for about a month and I really like him. He's smart, cute, funny, attentive — the whole package. The only problem is that I'm not exactly sure where we stand. I don't know if he's dating other people and I'm afraid to ask. I want to figure out our "status" but I know asking guys "where is this going?" or "what are we" usually sends them running in the opposite direction. Do you have any suggestions?
