I love when the health world overlaps with the tech world; it makes health blogging that much more relevant. Technology is ever advancing, and folks are finding new applications for communication technology in addressing age-old problems in both the public health sphere and individual waist lines. Google and texting are helping the world get a little more healthy.

Since texting is so common these days, it's definitely had an
effect on dating. For some of my friends, flirting with their significant others via text during the day helps keep the romance alive at night! And sure, a couple of flirty texts here and there is one thing, but a steamy text session is another!

If computers are the
new way to meet people, then texting is the new flirting. Now, instead of sending flowers, guys can just send a text. And instead of calling you between dates to check in, all they have to do is send a teaser via mobile.

We have become a nation of texters. A few of you even
text while at the gym. Texting on a treadmill is considerably safer than texting while crossing the street, and that is why the
American College of Emergency Doctors issued a warning against texting while on the move.

Use your tween's texting obsession to your advantage. Parents who wish their kids independence, but need to remind them to take their meds can quit the nagging and turn to technology. When children are preoccupied with school, friends, dating and Hannah Montana, they tend to forget to take the pills and injections that regulate their asthma, diabetes and other ailments.

The following story was yesterday's
headline of the day, but this live-action news coverage is too good to pass up. Injuries caused by walking while texting are on the rise and a London charity has decided to do something about it. That is, they're padding lamp posts located along the "most dangerous" texting streets.

The majority of you have fallen victim to the
drunk dial, but what about the drunk text? I have to assume that if you're guilty of the drunk dial then you must be plagued with a few drunk texts here and there. It's really just an easier, less direct method of the same thing — next day humiliation.

Like a big dork, I'm one of the few people who spells everything out in text messages. (Okay, I may use the occasional abbreviation.) But dammit, I'm afraid if I give up on complete words, I'm gonna sound like this kid. It's a slippery slope.

Dear Sugar--
I have been in a great relationship of 5 years. We live together and love each other dearly. Recently my boyfriend has been receiving some text messages from his best friend's ex-girlfriend.

Before you know it, you could be shopping from your cell phone! Or that's the idea Urban Outfitters has in mind, at least.
Last week the company
launched a text-messaging program that could be the first step towards mobile e-commerce.
