I asked you yesterday what would be worse: to go on a nightmare blind date or be stood up and so far, 53 percent of you felt that being stood up was far worse. I happen to agree — being rejected by someone who hasn't even given you a chance sure is a blow to your ego. But all the times I talk about the notion of standing someone up, I've asked you about being stood up, not standing someone up.

Rejection is an awful mix between being extremely offended and feeling like an utter failure with some shame and humiliation on the side. And of course, even if you try to avoid it, it’s going to happen eventually. While I don’t have any surefire ways to make rejection painless, I do have a few ideas to make it a bit easier.
