English Eccentric: Dunhill Launch New Scent

Dunhill is arguably one of the most well respected and traditional British labels. Devised in 1893, it began as a motor accessory brand to appeal to the quintessential British gentleman. Before long Dunhill became known for selling all sorts of paraphenalia such as fishing rods, pipes, sporting equipment, stationary and classic motoring gloves.

This Sunday (23rd November) Dunhill is unveiling it's latest project. It's an unashamedly masculine scent which will be exclusive to Harrods, before rolling out nationwide in February 2009. Following in the footsteps of the brand's first fragrance, which was launched in 1934, Dunhill Black (£42 100 ml) aims to appeal to the iconic English gentleman. Will Andrews, Fragrance Scientist on the Dunhill Fragrance Creation Team explains, “We wanted to create something with surprising masculinity. To combine an edgy green note with a sensual base.”

Selfridges Launch Men's Only Grooming Salon

It appears that any stigma regarding men using beauty products has completely disappeared in these post-metrosexual times. After the manscara craze this summer and the recent news that men are as botox-obsessed as women, it's no surprise that this winter British men are in for a beauty treat, all of their own. Selfridges launches Gentlemen's Tonic today; a men only salon with a focus on spa-style treatments and grooming.

In a bid to tap into the £700 million male grooming market, Gentlemen’s Tonic is situated in the vibrant London store. It aims to be a one-stop-shop for style, with four treatment rooms, four barber salons and a retail area. Founded by ex-City broker Olivier Bonnefoy, the salon is a unique establishment that incorporates a traditional barbershop with a variety of lifestyle and grooming services, for the modern man. Located on the 1st floor next to Ralph Lauren menswear, the salon will offer an extensive list of specialised services that set the precedent for a reassuringly male experience. It's Official: Red Is a Turn-On

Red has always been bold, but as it turns out, now it's officially sexy! A new study, as reported by Reuters, offers evidence that men are attracted to women in red. Researchers showed young heterosexual men pictures of women wearing different colors and asked them to rate the women by attractiveness and their desire to both kiss and have sex with them. Needless to say, red was the clear winner.

The study didn't offer any specific explanations for why the color red has this effect on men, except to say it could be an evolutionary trait or just the fact that red has long been associated with love. I'm no evolutionary scientist, but my bet's on the fact that for decades, red has been marketed not just as romantic (Valentine's Day cards and gifts) but also sexy (red lipstick and nail polish). Whatever the reason, if you're looking for a way to get the guys to notice you, a red top might just be the ticket. But we all have our own go-to outfits when we're trying to be sexy; if yours isn't a slinky red dress, what is it?

A Do or a Don't: Talking Sex With Male Friends

Although people have varying opinions on whether or not guys and girls can really just be friends, I do think there’s something to be said for having the male perspective at your disposal. If you’re wondering why your male co-worker always asks you to lunch but never asks you out, your guy friend may be able to shed some light on a subject that your female friends wouldn’t. But would you take it one step further and describe to him a problem or question you have related to sex? Though a man’s viewpoint might be helpful, talking sex with an actual boyfriend can be tricky enough. So ladies, tell me, do you talk about sex with your male friends?
