With it's warming qualities and syrup-like texture, Port is a great wintertime wine.
Warre's Otima 10 Year Tawny Port ($19.99) is my new favorite. It's delightful slightly chilled after dinner.

Welcome to the Winter drink edition of
Name That Dish. Below is an alcoholic concoction that will warm you up. Do you know what it's called?

If you weren't satisfied with an
imported sparkler, look to Napa Valley for a lovely, affordable bottle of sparkling wine to sip tonight as the clock strikes midnight. I recently enjoyed
Domaine Carneros Brut 2005 ($19.99) with a group of girlfriends. Brut refers to the wine's lack of sweetness — it's the term applied to the driest of sparkling wines — so if you enjoy dry bubbly you'll love this superb sparkler.

Are you faced with the same dilemma every
New Year's Eve of what wine to select from the Champagne aisle? We hear you. There are a growing number of bubblies that fall in the range between Cook's and Cristal, and choosing the right one can be tricky.

Although we are almost at the end of December, I highly recommend you wannabe mixologists make a cocktail entitled November. Created by
Scott Baird, a dear friend, owner of
15 Romolo, and one of San Francisco's foremost bartenders, this concoction won the
Nirvino Navan cocktail competition at
Swig.
If you've never tried
Navan, a natural vanilla liqueur, get your hands on a bottle stat!

There's nothing quite like the sound of a cocktail shaker in action. As I wait for a bartender to make my drink, the noise of ice clicking against glass fills me with giddy anticipation. Why?

When I saw this recipe in the December issue of
Martha Stewart Living, I went a little crazy. With it's vibrant hue, fizzy texture, and glamorous ingredients, I knew it was the perfect crowd-pleasing cocktail for the holidays. Last weekend at an intimate house party, I finally had the chance to make it.

When it comes to food, I try to be as receptive as possible. If I don't like something on the first taste, I'll often try it again later, just to keep an open mind and palate. I wasn't a fan of
Loft's Tangerine Liqueur on its own, but I wanted to give it another chance.

Listen up, party people: Today is a big day in the world of drinking. It's the 75th anniversary of the repeal of the 18th amendment. On
this day in 1933, the 21st amendment was ratified and the celebratory right of drinking was given back to Americans.
