Do You Enjoy the Beginning of Relationships?

The Hills has wrapped for the season, but not to worry, we now have The City! With a new cast of characters comes a slew of new drama — the good, the bad, and I'm sure, the ugly. If you tuned in last night, you know that Whitney moved to the big apple for a new career and a new man, but it seems like her new love interest has already caused his fair share of turmoil within the group.

As we all know, the beginning of a relationship can be tough — you don't always know where you stand, and it's easy for feelings and rumors to be misconstrued. On the other hand, there's nothing as exciting as the unknown future with that person. Most of us have experienced this so tell me, do you enjoy the excitement of a blossoming relationship or could you do without the awkward stage?

You Asked: Can I Save Our Christmas?

Dear Sugar,

My husband and I are hosting Christmas dinner this year, but I'm feeling very uncomfortable for the following reason. This past year, the relationship between my six siblings and mother has become very fractured for a number of reasons, but mostly because my mom and eldest sister create too much toxic drama. Some of the siblings are fed up, and don't want to come to Christmas unless I can 100 percent guarantee that my mom and sister won't be there. I seem to be the only one concerned that the young children are able to see each other, so I invited everyone; it's Christmas after all!

I did an evite so that everyone could see who's coming, but no one is responding. What should I do at this point? I've been preparing for 20 guests but at this point it might just be my husband and me. What should I do? — Disappointed Dede

No matter how much you try to avoid it, gossip is an ever-present part of life. It can be mean and hurtful if what you're gossiping about isn't true, but at the same time, it can be kind of fun to share news and other personal tidbits of information with your significant other or best friend! Gossip around the office, however, is a whole different story. While it's inevitable, it can put someone's reputation in jeopardy. When I’m being told one of my friend’s dating escapades, I like all the details. Maybe I’m just nosy, but I'd want to make an informed opinion if I’m asked for it. Likewise, I’m apt to walk my friends step-by-step through a situation I've been through. That’s me — I’m all about the details. But not all my friends share my enthusiasm for sharing the specifics.

Recently when I asked a friend to tell me all the juicy details about her date, she reproached me and said, “I want to keep some things to myself.” Immediately, I apologized, because I knew exactly what she meant — butt out. Are there things you’d rather just gloss over when dishing to your friends? Or when it comes to reliving your personal drama, are you a detail-oriented woman like myself?

When girls get together, it's a time for them to talk about everything from their careers to their love lives, and all the fun stuff in between. And even if you have a few different groups of friends, there are usually reoccurring topics that get touched upon each and every time. Do Tell: Do You Talk About Your Co-Workers to Other Friends at Work?

Even if you don't spend time with your work buddies outside of the office, you've probably made some pretty good "work friends" — you know those people you can vent to, share exciting news with, and gossip. And when the going gets tough between nine and five, they are the only ones that can understand your frustration so it's no wonder we all rely so much on them. And I know it's not the most PC thing to do, but it's pretty common to vent about other people in the office to those trusted confidants. I'll admit that I do it on occasion so do tell, do you talk about other co-workers, even your boss, to your friends at work? Don't worry, I won't tattle on you!

When Jessica Simpson first started dating Tony Romo, everyone seemed quick to write them off. She had just come out of a string of failed relationships and Tony came under fire for letting Jessica "ruin his football season." Even though they're still together, I feel like we're just waiting for news of the break up, since we all "know" it won't last. I imagine hearing this kind of sentiment from people can put a lot of strain on a relationship. I'm not sure whether it would make it harder to stay together, or create more determination to make it work. Although I know I would be both sad and annoyed to have people think that about my relationship, I can't lie and say that I've never thought that about other couples.
