Where the Ladies At? Fewer Girls Going Into Computer Science The number of girls interested in computer science peaked in 1982. Yes, 26 years ago, before people even had computers at home. After a sharp decline, it held steady until 2000 and now it’s at an all-time low — back to where it began in the early ‘70s.

Christian Fraternities Not Always Welcome on Campus Water may be the only wet thing at Christian fraternity Slip-n-Slide parties, but their existence on college campuses has been met with resistance across the country. You would think by not drinking, rejecting hazing, and promoting public service they would be a college administrator’s dream, but only accepting Christian members has earned them an exclusionary reputation. As if all fraternities weren’t!

Pep-Rally for Brains Over Brawn? Academic Trading Cards!

Pep-Rally for Brains Over Brawn? Academic Trading Cards! Blah, blah, sports, blah. Not a popular sentiment, I realize — I mean they're fun to watch and all (I hear) but I'd rather know the names of the leaders of Zimbabwe than whether the World Series has happened yet. I just get concerned over the culture of idolizing athletes — because when has a touchdown ever cured cancer?

Do Tell: Was Your University Pet-Friendly? Even though tons of colleges have animals as mascots, they may not be welcome inside dorm doors. I attended a university where nearly everyone lives on campus for all four years . .

You Asked: When Will This Loneliness Go Away? Dear Sugar, I am really struggling with my emotions at this moment in life. I just moved 1,000 miles away from home in order to attend a great school, but I'm miserable. I haven't made many friends if any, and most of my time is spent in my dorm room alone.

Where Do You Stand? Marrying Young

Where Do You Stand? Marrying Young I was having a conversation with a friend last night about how her BFF from college is getting divorced from her college sweetheart after only two years of marriage. While I know many young relationships flourish, I have to say I wasn't all that surprised by her news — people grow leaps and bounds in their 20's and it's common to see life in a whole new light, much differently from your school days. I look back on my college relationship now and realize how wrong we were for each other, but that's just me, so tell me where you stand on marrying young.

You Asked: Should I Move? Dear Sugar, A friend and I have been talking about moving to New York together after we finish college next May. We haven't discussed anything solid, but we both think it's a good idea to live there because of the areas we're specializing in, plus, it's my absolute dream city! My problem is that I'm currently in a relationship with a great guy, and have been for about a year and a half.

Boys and Girls Mixed? Are Coed Dorm Rooms a Good Idea?

Boys and Girls Mixed? Are Coed Dorm Rooms a Good Idea? Not stopping at coed floors or even coed bathrooms, some colleges are offering the choice for coed dorm rooms. Though it seems like permission for romantic undergraduate cohabitation, a lot of students see it as a chance to live with their friends who just happen to be of the opposite sex, and some gay students who feel more comfortable rooming with someone of the opposite sex like the option, too. About two dozen schools — like Brown University, University of Pennsylvania, Oberlin College, Clark University, and the California Institute of Technology allow the gender-blind room arrangements.
