Everyone's got one good friend who simply loves to throw parties. For many of my friends, that person is me! Aside from delicious grub, some upbeat dancin' tunes, and a well-stocked bar, I've found that every party needs festive lighting, linens, coasters, versatile furniture and trays, and an eye-catching invite to reel the crowds in.

Does the old saying when the cat's away, the mouse will play ring at all true in your relationship? It's a common notion that when a significant other is out of town, the other half gets a "hall pass." While I'm sure that's appealing to some, others might use that time apart to catch up on alone time, to get errands run, or to simply spend time with friends and family.

You have a large group of girl friends from college that you still stay in touch with. You've all been talking about getting together for a reunion night, but after months of talk, no one's taken on the responsibility, so you decide to take it upon yourself. You all agree that instead of a big group dinner out, it would be more fun to make it a girls' night in.

One of the most beautiful weddings I've ever attended used succulents as centerpieces at the reception. The unusual plants were nestled in small colored glass votives that were laden with pretty, tiny pebbles. Would you use succulents as centerpieces at a wedding or a party?

says, "[Setting a table] is emblematic of your personal style . .

I love attending work parties. It's always fun to blow off steam with co-workers and see what they're like when they let their hair down. But I always watch myself as drinking too much in the presence of superiors could lead to quite an uncomfortable situation!

Something about a warm day receding into a balmy night makes you want to get your friends together for a party, even if you live in a city where the nights never quite make it to "balmy." Wherever you are, the need to throw a bash during the long days of Summer is undeniable, and what do you need besides ample food and drink? Gadgets!

One of the most economical and pretty ways that you can decorate your outside space is with colorful paper lanterns. Not only are they inexpensive, they also look great during every hour of your party. If you choose brightly colored lanterns, like the ones shown here, they'll create a huge color splash during the day.

Paper parasols aren't just for keeping the sun out of your eyes. They'll also add some instant
Summer Style to your garden party. Just stick a few in larger shrubs or low-hanging tree branches, and let the fun begin!
