Douche is a French term that means to wash or soak, and douching means to wash out or clean your lady business. So while we all know it's important to clean down there, is douching the way to go? If you don't know much about it, or are confused on this topic as so many women are, take this quiz to learn some interesting facts about douching.

Douching is not a good thing because your vagina is already a self cleaning system. There is so much good bacteria there and the pH of that region is important for your health. talk to your health care provider about proper genital hygiene.

Yeah, I'm with you guys...I can't believe that 30% of women douche. I don't know anyone who uses this stuff either.

I dont anyone either...but I got 100% wooohoooo. I know that I have read consistently that douching is not good for you and the vagina is self-cleaning anyway so it is pointless. Odor or other issues can be something that indicates a serious issue and shouldnt be waved or "douched" away! haha.

Any gynecologist will tell you NOT to douche. It messes with the natural chemical balance and causes more problems. It's the world of advertising that decided to make women feel like they were in need of such a thing. Stupid.

I like how the answer to #1 is actually part of the post, in the picture (the box lists the ingredient). =P

Someone here said soap and water...but I was told even soap is enough to upset the pH balance, so just water -lots of it- is best IMO

100%! But I had to look up the ingredients of douches. I've never been interested in messing with my vagina, so I've never done much research on douching. I don't know anyone that does it, but I have used other feminine products to cleanse...They were just more pH balanced and didn't wash out any chemicals inside of me.

HOWEVER...I learned about anal douching...before unprotected anal sex. THAT makes more sense!

When I moved into my dorm room, the girl that had it previously left a box of douche in the drawer and I found it. I had to throw it away because it just weirded me out. I honestly don't know anyone who uses it (except that girl).

It's bad for your internal womanly area!
It messes up your natural chemical balance!

Why do they even allow companies to sell douching kits... I have never heard of a single situation where it was advised or helpful. Gross.

Re: Janine22. I am grossed out if you DO use common soap: it can irritate that area, dry it out and turn it rashy (that's what I heard from my doc). Best of luck to your guy with that one! And FYI; not using soap doesn't mean you don't wash at all.

My friend uses this stuff, first time I saww it I was like is she serious. Dr. Oz on Oprah said it's like a self cleaning oven which is true, it's always good idea to use water but "she" knows how to clean herself Eye-wink

6/6 Correct Smiling I would never use a douche -- the vagina already has a cleaning system. I couldn't believe it either when I got the 30% question right; I can't believe that many women use them.
