Do Tell: What's the Most Spontaneous Thing You've Ever Done?

Are you the type of person that doesn't have to think twice before jetting off to Las Vegas on a whim or before taking an impromptu road trip with your boyfriend? I certainly am not! I'm a total planner but have always been envious of those who fly by the seats of their pants, so ladies, do tell, what's the most spontaneous thing you've ever done?

My BFF and I went to the beach one afternoon early in our University's summer break and just decided to keep driving. We went to Death Valley, Joshua Tree, Las Vegas, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, Texas... saw every desert, diner, and truck driver (they are very friendly and helpful!) in the West, ha. It was an amazing experience, something I wanna do with her again when we are 50.

The day my boyfriend left to spend a month in San Antonio for med school we had a HUGE fight and he left on really bad terms. Several hours later, I felt awful and couldn't get ahold of him on his phone (now that I look back, it was probably because he was still on the plane!)

I rushed back to the airport, bought a VERY expensive one way ticket to San Antonio, left him a message saying I would be arriving that night and jumped on the plane. I had no ticket back, no way of knowing that he had gotten my message and would meet me at the airport, oh, and I was supposed to work the next day.

Everything turned out great, he met me at the airport, I call out of work for personal reasons and I was able to get a flight back a few days later without any problems. (Just a lot more money) We had a great time, worked everything out and it was definetly worth it! The only downfall is that 5 months later I'm STILL paying of the flights on my credit card. Oh well!

Im currently in a long distance relationship... Im going to school in Buffalo, and my boyfriend's in Long Island... for those of you that don't know, it's 400+miles away, and about 8hours away. Haven't seen him in over a month, and 2 Fridays ago, I missed him so much that I just drove home... Spent some time with him over the weekends, and drove back to buffalo. So that was like 16hours on the road for me... amazing! lol

I did surprise my boyfriend with a trip to Vegas! I called his work and they 'scheduled' him but just as a cover, I packed his bags while he was at work, got his passport, and picked him up from work one day to go to lunch and just kept driving to the airport!

I am a planner and I hate not knowing what I will be doing that day and when I am meeting someone. This was spontaneous for him, not me since I planned it months in advance!

I bought my car that way. Drove past the dealership and thought it looked hot on the lot, went in and traded my current car for it on the spot. I still love it 2 years later!

The most spontaneous thing I ever did was take a few clothes and move to Indiana (From PA) to be with my (now ex)boyfriend. Got up and left. One way plane ticketed my way out of my old life I couldn't stand anymore (I was 18, now I am 19, to be 20 in Feb.)

Sadly, my ex and i broke up a few weeks later after realizing he wasn't all he said he was, but I found new love in Indiana :3

We're still together 11 months later. Tomorrow is our 11 month mark Laughing out loud

hm not sure if this counts, and but what about pulling over at the side of the road, and having some happy times with the bf? ok ok....
since most posts are going the traveling route: on our 1 year anniversary, we were both kinda bummed that we didn't plan things in advance. i looked up some bed and breakfasts early afternoon, made some reservations, and by 4 pm we were on a ferry crossing the long island sound into connecticut. it was a fun weekend!
and i have done smaller scale unplanned things: like walked around nyc with my good friends take pictures with a giant stuffed whale at touristy areas, in the subway...etc.
the unplanned days and trips are the best because there are no expectations, always end up fun no matter what, and are so memorable.

Looking back, everything that was'spontaneous' at the time just seems a little stupid now at almost 30 years old. Like driving 7 hours to eat dinner with a guy I had met the previous weekend at a bar, or getting a tattoo on my foot.

I am also obsessed with planning ahead of time for everything, butttttt freshman year of college (I'm now a junior)...I had a date for Valentine's day with a guy I had gone out with a few times already. There was just something about him that I didn't like..alright, a few things: he was a smoker, from Boston so he never pronounced his "R's", always found a way to put down New York (I'm a NYer), was very stubborn and argumentative..which I am too, so we just clashed..a lot haha...ANYWAY...I was unhappy at the college I was at and I felt that maybe getting into a relationship would make me happier. For the first time in my life, I was settling for a guy I didn't even like..at all. A few hours before we were supposed to go out to some expensive restaurant, I called him, cancelled, and went out and got a tattoo that says "Princess" which reminds me never to settle for anything less than what I think I am worth. Something I feel all women should live by. Two years later, I am still single, but at least I can live with the fact that the man I deserve hasn't come along with. I'll be happier in the long run, even if it means having to wait awhile, it will be well worth it.

That guy I cancelled on should be grateful that not only did I not waste his time, but he saved a hell of a lot of money that night by not taking me out to dinner...I'm an expensive date...Fillet mignon!! Laughing out loud

Oh, lord. Where do I start?

High school - Went out alllll night when I was 15 after we closed our last run of the first play I was in. Granted, I DID call my mom and make sure it was okay with her, but after that, all lights were green! It felt great to have that kind of trust. =)

In college..... just packed up my bags, my computer, and went straight to Padre Island (not the SOUTH padre island, mind you!) for spring break with friends. I had no swimsuit, that's how unplanned it was! It was the time of my life.

Last year, I just up and went to Kileen to meet an online friend. I did let my parents know exactly what was up, and it was all good.

This year? I'm playing around with the idea of just up and flying to see my boyfriend. Smiling Who knows?

I am a huge planner and probably could never do anything too out there or spontaneous, but I guess pulling the car over and going at it with my bf or saying I will go to a party with my girls and we decide to go out to a bar instead.

I have not being in control. I like to plan.

I'm a major planner too, but two years ago my boyfriend got traded while they were on the road and pretty much came backto town for a few hours to grab a few things from his apartment and move to San Antonio. Three days after he left, I missed him so much that I jumped in the car and drove the 22 hours (straight through, by myself) to see him and stayed for the rest of the summer. It was SO worth it!

I've done some crazy things im my life and I'm only 20 yrs old, so I've got a whole lot of living to do! But the one thing that comes to mind the most is when I was small my mom was about to throw out an old bottle of mouthwash. Well I took it upon myself to take care of it for her and went outside with the bottle to see if I could find an ant bed or something of the sort. The next thing I know I was on my anut's front porch dashing the whole bottle on the side of her house!!! I thought it would just smell up the place for a while and dry up and go away! Little did I know what would happen next! About half an hour later she came out of her house screaming saying what happened here..what the heck is going on! And there on the side of her house was thousands of bees covering the area where the mouthwash had been dashed! AHHHHHHH! She said it smelled like Scope or something and that's when my mom asked what I had done with the bottle I had! And I got my butt whipped for that one real good!

In highschool (that's like 10 years ago now wow!), me and my friends decided to go to this beach three hours away from home on a Monday afternoon, go to a couple of clubs and catch the early buss to get to school on time. Haha no sleep at all! We just decided on this idea on the same day and has been the most spontaneous thing I've ever done Smiling

A couple weeks after I graduated college, I was hanging out with a guy friend from the Midwest who was telling me how great Chicago was. I drunkenly called my best friend in the middle of the night and told her I was moving there by the end of the summer, even though I'd never been there before and didn't know anyone. She was like "yeah ok we'll see"...sure enough, I moved in on September 3rd and have been here for over a year! Best decision I ever made.

I didn't get the spontaneous gene, unfortunately. However! I did redeem myself at just the right time. I had been emailing for about 10 days with a guy who had been part of a mass mailing I also received and we had started off with a weird dialog that became personal. In writing he was the most amazing person I'd ever known, so I knew he was too good to be true. Rather than keep on corresponding for 6 months or whatever and then meeting and being disappointed, I called him and suggested meeting that night to get the inevitable over with. He agreed, and I was in the car within 10 minutes driving into Manhattan. Turns out he was as amazing in person as in writing, and we've been together ever since. So when I finally did something spontaneous and completely out of character, at least it paid off! Smiling

Two years ago my boyfriend and I were driving from his parent's house back to my apartment after a long weekend. It was a Monday after a long weekend (President's Day, I think). The weather was beautiful, and we started talking about how we didn't want to go back to work/school the next day. "Wouldn't Atlantic City be fun?" We got to a fork in the highway, where we had to decide which way to go...so we headed towards AC for the night! He called in sick to work the next day and I skipped my classes. It was the best night, he won money playing poker and we went to a great dinner...and we proved that we can be spontaneous.

I ran off at the drop of a hat to be with a hottie in LA. We hung out for awhile, nothing TOO serious, and from there I I hooked up with a guy I'd met online, took a roadtrip from LA to SF and enjoyed wine country with a beautiful near-stranger that I bonded with over along beautiful drive....

This past Sunday, my bf and I were eating lunch in L.A. and he said we should go somewhere together. I think he was thinking like in the next month or so. But I say, Vegas, tonight! So we did. I packed a bag, called work, and hit the road. We stayed up all night dancing and gambling. Our intention was to go back Monday afternoon, but we ended up staying an extra night. Smiling

my best friend and i had just graduated high school and were entirely commitment free until school the next fall. we decided it was time to make some memories, so we went to kansas city and stayed for a few weeks with some friends of ours. we couch-hopped for a few weeks until we had enough, then we decided we'd like to go to canada. neither of us had ever been, and we decided we wanted an international adventure summer. we drove straight from kansas city to montreal and stayed a few days, sleeping in strange houses and experimenting with a lot of things i'll never touch again. i told my parents i would be back in a week, and i was gone an entire month. they weren't thrilled about that, or that i had spent a ton of money right before moving off to college. but that was by far the most amazing expereience of my life and i wish i could do it again.

I grew up in Sydney, Australia. I booked a holiday to NY early because of a great deal. Two months before I left I decided that I was going to move to NY to live. I packed everything and left Sydney. I lived in NY for three years and met my bf there and we have now both moved to Arizona.

When I was 18, I ran away from home and took a Greyhound bus from California to New Jersey. All to meet some guy I met on the internet...who of course, ended up being some shady bum. I ended up being homeless and whatnot, but I have no regrets...'cuz if I didn't pick up and move to NJ, I would have never had my son (not with the shady bum) or met my husband. (Again, not the shady bum)

i am a fly by the seat of my pants kind of person- all the way. im in a long distance relationship and if i really miss him i pack whats in my clean laundry basket and i'm on the road. i once decided i wanted to visit my aunt in switzerland and a week later i was on the plane- i guess i feel like i appreciate things more that way- when theyre from the heart rather than a result of months of planning and thought. i get way to stressed out if i've been planning and anticipating something for too long and dont really have a good time. however i feel like this will have to change when i get older but i dont want to think about that now Smiling

Hmm I'm a pretty spontaneous person, but the one that pops in mind is: the night I got my haircut by a gay cowboy on the side of Hollywood Blvd. for a dollar while holding his dog. No, I'm not kidding. That night I also bumped into Courtney Love (literally), met the janitor from Scrubs, and met a bunch of hare krishnas. You know that saying, "only in Hollywood"? They're not kidding.
