Do Tell: What's the Best Part of Being Husband and Wife?

Once the honeymoon is over, it's back to "real life" - dirty laundry, a messy house, bills, work, etc. - but the thing that makes it all not so bad is that you have your new hubby right there with you!! Since I'm not married, I can only imagine how wonderful it must be to finally call the man you love your husband, so ladies, do tell, what's the best part about being a newlywed?

Not totally freaking out if your period is a couple of days late!?! No, the best part is knowing that for the rest of your life you are not alone, it is We not I. That is really comforting! Being married to your best friend is awesome.
The hard part is writing a different name. I didn't ever see myself as a married person I always thought I'd be the crazy cat lady. Now I am working on us being the crazy cat couple!
I had a friend ask if I felt any different and no I don't. She was wondering because she was hoping if her boyfriend and her got engaged if she would trust her boyfriend more. I said that I never had a trust issue but I really didn't think it would help. I had no worries on the day of my wedding I was cool as a cucumber because I knew 110% that I was doing the right thing. I don't think I could have felt that way if I didn't trust Jason.
I do pay all of the bills now because he can't balance a check book to save his life and I really enjoy the task trying to get our debt payed down, setting up savings and feeling in control. We lived together first and always kept separate checkbooks I am glad to finally know what we have and don't! It actually has alleviated any aggravation with each other.

Being able to walk around your family and friends and be as mushy as you want to and hear them say, "Oh...you guys are NEWLYWEDS..." Therefore, it's okay.

Meeting one of your ex's in public and introducing them to "My HUSBAND."

Your grandmother (or mother) calling and not freaking out because you have a MAN over at your place at 7 in the morning...it's allowed!

And, of course, spending lots of time with your best friend.

Every reason that jimmalou1978 listed and more. Waking up next to him with no makeup, hair all messed up, morning breath and all...and he still thinks you're beautiful. Someone to share my inermost thoughts with...

    Ditto to everyone! Especially jimmalou.

I love just spending time with my best friend. It still feels almost like a sleepover and we've been married almost 2 years!

My husband is my best friend and my biggest cheerleader. He's always there for me, and I'm always there for him. I can't imagine anything better than waking up next to, taking walks with, eating dinner with, and seeing the world with my favorite person. There's no "best part" of being husband and wife...it's all great.

the best part? knowing that other people suddenly respect your relationship and being treated better by strangers. being married definitely reinforced my beliefs that marriage shouldn't be only for heteros. everyone deserves to be treated this way.

I love the feeling that someone knows me inside out and loves it, makes me feel very secure. It's also lots of fun because we are best friends so there are lots of laughs. On the downside, some men are completely clueless when it comes to womens emotions (my hubby being one of them, but he's getting better). But maybe this is because he has no sisters and had not lived with any girls before. I just accept him for how he is and love him to pieces.

Weve been married 3 and 1/2 years now and I think the best part is knowing that no matter what I have expeirenced the greatest joys in life. I kno what its like to love so much its hard to breath. I know what its like to have my other half by my side everyday every moment. I knwo that when sh*t hits the fan Ive got solid ground to fall back on and comfort me. Ive got someone to play with to fight with to love with forever and nothing will change that. Ive got someone to share in the good times an the bad. The whole damn thing is magical and wonderful its the same today as it was teh first day. Its magic.

I think one of the best things is going to sleep and waking up every morning next to the most amazing man I have ever met. I still find myself looking at him when hes not paying attention and my heart beats faster and I have butterflies in my stomach thinking to myself, Thats my HUSBAND!
And the other best thing is how happy our families and friends are that we got married. We have friends who hate their in-laws or whose spouses dont like the friends and vice versa. We dont have that problem

That you can share in the housework together! He can know things about you before you do, and you with him, you can find what he has misplaced by following his trail and patterns that he has developed.

You can tell each other off and learn quickly from your mistakes, and the same for him!

My husband and I lived together for almost 4 years before we got married (messy divorce - she wouldn't sign the papers) and I think the best part is finally saying 'husband' in conversation, finally being able to say honestly 'my step-kids' and signing my new name, since nothing else really changed. I love seeing that ring on my finger during the day and knowing that we finally made it into the married world together.
I also totally agree with the person that said about people giving your relationship more respect.

Best part of being a newlywed...

I don't know, to be honest. I thin living together before you get married is key. I couldn't imagine even thinking about marriage before living with someone.

What I've found, is being married isn't about a wedding. Or a ring. Or a last name. It's a state of mind, and the emotional state of your relationship. The best part about being married is the same as the best part of my relationship...

I'm in love, and feel safe, and loved, and healthy with my husband. That's the best part of my husband, and my relationship, and therefore the best part about being married...

I hate to be the person to say this, guys, but all of what you've mentioned is also true for partners even if they're not married.
From my experience, I have to say that being married wasn't really what I expected and even though it all started as a romantic fairy tale, it eventually turned into something that wasn't fulfilling for me and it earned me the saddest time of my life.
Now I'm living with my boyfriend and I'm the happiest person on earth. I also feel he's my best friend and the one who understands me better than anyone. We have the greatest time together and trust each other completely. We're not married and yet we're determined to spend the rest of our lives together because being together makes us happy... I feel so blessed to have him!

The best part about being married is that you always have someone who has your back no matter what. That reassurance is so brilliant.

I get married in exactly 2 months and I smile everytime I think about the fact that I am about to marry my bestfriend and we can spend every moment possible together for the rest of our lives. We've never fought, we've never had trust issues, we make each other laugh constantly, I just hope everyone has the chance to find out exactly what it feels like to find their soulmate!

For me, the best part about being married is knowing that you have someone to take to all those weddings, family parties, etc that you used to have to go to alone and constantly be asked "so, do you have a boyfriend yet?". And the best part is that they have to go! The flip side is that you have to do all of their family stuff with them.

Newly wed..I don't remember much. But a long time wed, everything is good. We fight but we know each other's boundaries so well that we try not to go there. We demand the best from one another because we both know we can do anything we want to but we just have work hard at our jobs. We believe in one another is what I'm trying to say. We also love each other enough to ignore our bad points. It's not so bad sleeping with the same man every single night Smiling
My bed is not full of roses but it's quite a comfortable bed and I love it.

i really want to get married now that i've read all these posts! Laughing out loud and it's good to know that not all relationships are so dysfunctional and all. it really sucks when there are a lot of bad things you hear about.
