Dear Poll: Do You Prefer a Serious Man or a Kid at Heart?

I can appreciate a serious guy who is mature and looks at things from a rational point of view, but too much seriousness can be dull. Since I have to be able laugh, I love a guy who's a kid at heart, but not at the expense of his reliability. The ideal guy would possess a perfect combination of both traits, but if you had to choose, what would it be for you?

I'm torn because, I love a kid at heart but a serious guy has great qualities too. I bet both can make a fantastic hubs-- prob. easier to bring out the kid again in a serious guy than to bring out the serious man in a kid-at-heart??

I always thought I wanted a serious man because I myself am so serious but I was never really happy until I dated/married a kid at heart. We balance each other out really well and he keeps me from taking myself toooo seriously.

I've always liked a balance..if a guy is too "kid-at-heart" then he acts like a kid when he should be taking something seriously. Also, sometimes it's exhausting to be around a guy who is constantly acting like a kid.

I am a kid at heart myself, and my fiance is a little more serious. He is not at all uptight, but he isn't really the joke-y, class clown type. Like someone else said, we balance one another out, and I wouldn't have it any other way!

He has to know when it's appropriate to be what the situation/environment requires. I know when to be the responsible adult my children can rely on and when to play , and I'm very playful.
I do not like to be embarrassed in public. So he should just be mature and playful but like a mature adult and not like a child who hasn't learned limitations.

Torn but if I had to choose, I'd take the seriousness. I can't deal with someone who might not be reliable. Still, I love my hubby who is a perfect combination of both.

I like a guy who is a kid at heart, but knows when to be serious. You have to have a balance. I have always been told that I act really mature for my age, but when Im around my friends/family I am a total goofball. I like the same in a guy.

    I couldn't choose. They're both equally important.

My husband has both sides, as do I. We appreciate that about each other.

I guy needs to be both, everyone should be well rounded and know when to act both ways.

But there is definitely a difference between really acting like a kid, or being a kid at heart, you can be lighthearted and "kid-like" and it's fine, but guys that actually act immature and don't know when to be serious and generally actually do act like kids, that's not cool.

I started dating my bf when he was 17 or 18, I can't remember now and I was 19. We met in college and I've watched him go from still very immature and kid-like to a mature adult with a great sense of humor and a great fun loving side. It's been amazing to watch the transition. I'm 22 now and he's about to be 21. Now he's responsible and amusing. Pretty perfect.

i need the balance. i need a guy who is reliable and responsible and can be serious when he needs to be... but i loooove someone i can just goof off with and be silly, and someone that can just laugh at things (especially himself) and not take everything so seriously. it definitely has to be a combination of the two. thats why i love my boyfriend... he's really sweet and super silly but he has a great job, he's focused and he can hold a mature conversation and doesn't act like a maniac all the time.

Can a choice a "closet kid at heart"? My boy comes off as very proper and.... well, British. But you catch him on a silly day when he's at home and he's the nerdiest, cutest, most childish, fun person in the world!

Im not serious at all, so to have someone whos serious all the time would be hard. I'd feel really constrained. I need someone who is goofy and not afraid to laugh at themself and me! Good conversation is important so as long as we can have conversations, Im happy.

I have being in many relationships with any different guys, but a serious guy is for me because I feel as though I will be taken seriously. A kid a heart I feel as though they are not looking for a kid at heart because all they are looking for is some fun andI do not not to just have fun with a guy.

i like guys who are 'kids at heart' cause that means that they are serious when the time calls for it (i.e. work etc) but that they are able to toss everything aside and just have fun. my fiance is a kid at heart...we throw a frisbee together, we see dumb silly movies and we play with kids all the time and he seems to really enjoy it which in return makes me really happy!
