A Do or a Don't: Lying For Someone You Love

Though I’ve certainly been let in on some big secrets throughout the years, fortunately I’ve never been put into a position where I’ve been forced to lie on someone’s behalf, because honestly, I’m not sure I could do it. A white lie is one thing, but serious lies make me nervous. Still, I’m sure much of it depends on the person and the circumstance. What are your thoughts on this? Would you ever lie for someone you love? Or would even being asked to do so be a violation of your relationship?

Not a good liar. I get physically ill lying or holding bad secrets.
I'm a goody two shoes anyway...no one tells me anything because they know it's not fair to put me through the torment. I'm the one who's glad when someone(even family) goes to jail for committing a crime or gets divorced when it wasn't working. I don't say so, but inside I'm relieved.

I probably would, especially to protect them. I'm really loyal to those I love (to a fault, obviously). Smiling

Lying is a big deal and as one of those people who can lie without fail, even I can assure you that lying is never the right choice.

I have lied many times before to loved ones and gotten away with it as well. But the guilt eats you up day, weeks, or months later. It always catches up with you.

Honesty is the best policy. To keep things easier for myself and my loved ones, I always tell the truth even if it hurts someone because I loved them and they deserve the truth. If they love you back, they will appreciate you for giving them the truth.

I would, but it would depend. For instance: My boyf, father, mom and myself have a shared google document online to keep track of wedding plans. My boyf logged in when he saw I was online and joking typed the word "c0ck". Unfort, my mom was online and saw it. She called me and asked if I had just typed something, and I said no, and she said well someone did lmao. anyways, boyf thought it was me and was going to dirty talk. I told mom he was typing it in as a joke for me to come across as I was reading the document, and everyone actually got a really big laugh from it (the boyf was must mortified as my parents are very conservative and he thought he was dead). That sort of thing, and say he is somewhere his fam doesn't want him to go but I am okay with...i will fib to them about that too. But BIG things? I dont' think I could do that. If it would harm him or me or anyone else in anyway, i would not lie.

Is it bad that i don't feel badly about telling little white lies?
I mean, I usually end up believing them myself and forgetting the truth anyways so they become the truth, but i have no issue at all with it.

Depends who I would be lying to. I would do pretty much ANYTHING for my family but I wouldnt like to lie to any of them. If my boyfriend asked me to lie to his friends I would absolutely do it without hesitation but if he asked me to lie to my mother, then we'd have issue.

Also, I rarely lie, I believe in stretching the truth or omitting details but not straight up lying.

I'm a HORRIBLE liar, but I do when appropriate. They probably have figured me out...Hey, I did what was right! Eye-wink

I'm a horrible liar. If I lie, it would be even more obvious then if I don't say anything.

I'd just think that if someone loved me as much as they say they do, they wouldn't put in a situation I'm not comfortable in.
