We have a kazziollion in the garage that NEED to go in this week so maybe we will start doing this for our va-cay we want this Christmas time!

This is a great idea, I wish I could do this but I don't drink out of bottles like that.

For my savings, I put every single cent I catch hold of into an empty bottle (I have had it for years). Every time the bottle runs full I dump it into a box and keep on trying to fill it up. I have a box FILLED with change, and to be honest, I am dying to know how much it is!!

Just the other day I was thinking that I could exchange the soda cans and give the money to my son as his allowance. My parents buy canned drinks by the bulk and they don't exchange the cans at the recycling center. I don't think I'll have trouble gathering the cans.

Great idea! Bummer that we don't have that much canned or bottled stuff to bring in. We do have a change jar that we throw our money in. I was thinking about starting a jar like that for Christmas shopping. At the end of the day just fill my change and maybe a few bills in there. We'll see.
Anyone know of any good sites for setting up a personal budget? It's something I really need to do!

Texas doesn't redeem money for recycling

yeah this would definitely be cool if you use a lot of bottles. i once had two parties in two days and when i returned all the bottles, i got close to 20 dollars. the moral of the story is to throw a lot of parties and return the cans.

one year my family kept a bottle of change that everyone threw their extra change in every day. by the time we went on vacation, we had an extra 75 dollars.

Cool for her. And yes, I agree: By getting creative, we could save lots and lots of money!

who has that many bottles? I dont use bottles at all, unless its liquor and i dont go through those that quick!

We've been planning on starting to do this with our aluminum cans.

We save our aluminum cans and when we have a buttload of 'em, we take them to the recycling center and use the cash they give us to go out to dinner or see a movie.

I'm sharing the Texas doesn't redeem pain. Of course we don't usually buy drinks in that form any way.

Plastic bottles hardly pay anything, that's why in the picture the bottles are glass.

how much to glass ones go for? even if it's 50 cents, that's still 2000 to get to $1K. That's 5 or 6 glass bottles a day. Wouldn't you get more money, um, not drinking that many bottles of anything a day?
