Do Tell: How Do You Keep Track of Your Period?

I'm sure many of you are so in tune with your bodies that you know exactly when Aunt Flo is going to pay you a visit. Some women count days and keep track of their periods on their calendar, some women record the details of their cycles on a fertility awareness chart, and others just know based on their birth control (how many pills they have left in their pack or how long they've been wearing their Nuvaring). Of course PMS and the responses our bodies give us are a great indication (did someone say sore boobs?), but how do you keep track of your cycle? Is it something you monitor religiously, or something you do every once in a while when you remember?

i know when i'm due to get it, based on my pills, but i also keep track of everything in my work outlook calendar, so if i'm planning weekends away or whatever i'll put a little "p" under the certain weekend when i'm due...kinda random, but i put EVERYTHING in there, like "buy toothpaste" and "maybe go to dinner with joe"...

I don't really keep track. I usualyl do 2 months straight on the pill, but if something comes up (like a holiday) I tend to delay it bit or have it early!

i've always been regular too. i dont keep track of it believe it or not. I always get it at 5 a.m. when i get it and i wake up right before no matter where i am, and i just know.

my boyfriend is a little bit more on the paranoid side. he has a pen and he marks it in his calendar. he seems to know the day i will be broken before i do. like i said i never know the day cuz i dont pay attention. i just know a few hours before i'm about to get it.

I just kinda remember it now, but I used to write it in my diary. However, I was too embarrassed to write the phrase'periods' or 'Aunt Flo', so instead, I drew a little symbol of an eye (don't ask me why, I just like to draw eyes).
I also kept track of other 'parts' of the cycle I was in. I mean there's periods, but also the familiar PMS, and the 'very good days' when you're far from your periods and feel healthy, your skin glows and you feel happy and beautiful.
My 'good' days were denoted by a little heart symbol, my PMS was the same eye with a tear in it...

P.S. Off topic but...I've noticed guys notice you more when you're in the 'good' part of the cycle...it's really true, pay attention to how guys react to you next time you're in your 'right' days and compare it with PMS days!

I use http://mon.thly.info I just click on the day and it keeps track of all my groovy stats. And I can even print it out later to take to the doc Smiling So I don't have to say "Ummm... last week... maybe" They're rolling out a new beta that you can put notes in and track more useful girly info.

I am on the pill, so I know when I should get it..I also put a red star next to the days I have it on my calendar (makes it easier for those doctor's appointment where they always ask you when ur last period was)

i had the ablation surgery so i really don't get a period anymore...but i do spot every once in a while...and i track that in one of those little pocket calenders.it has little circles on all the days that it occurs. and squares where i feel that its a bit more then spotting. since i had the surgery for heavy bleeding..i would bleed almost 3 wks out of every month. UGH! and the spotting tends to go for about two weeks, but nothing as bad as before.

I'm pretty irregular so I don't bother counting days. I find that it comes more easily when I don't stress out about it.

I keep track in iCal and carry it around on my iPhone.

I went to the doctor the other week and she asked me when my last period was and I whipped out iWoman and told her "14 days ago, for 3 days, heavy bleeding on day 1 and 2, light bleeding on day 3, mild PMS".

She was like ... why can't all of my patients be like you.

I'm on the pill and don't think about it otherwise. I do make sure that I don't have my period on vacation or my birthday or anniversary, though.

I've been regular since I started, and every month my PMS is exactly the same.

I keep a paper-trail of it using mymonthlycycles.com, but it really just tells me what I already know, so I can print it and take it to the Dr. if need be, since I can never answer their "when was your last one?" question.

I can't really keep track, mine fluctuates all the time! I just know a week in advance by my mood swings...other than that, can't tell.

I'm on the pill so it's like clockwork (give or take some hours). I also mark it on a small calendar that I bought just for that purpose-- "PS" for when it starts and "PE" for when it ends.

Mine is so irregular it's almost impossible to keep track of. But I can tell the day before it starts because I eat like 5,000 calories!

My mom marked it on the family calendar. I didn't figure it out until I was about 16, and my dad and brother probably never did, but it was there - a little B with the number of days since her last period. I could have done without that.

Before I was on the pill I kept a year-long calendar inside my medicine cabinet. I'd mark the day I started my period and 28 days ahead, so I knew when to expect it. Then the next month I'd mark the day I actually started and keep the cycle (heh) going.

It was private (I lived alone at the time), it was easy to do (right by where I kept the tampons) and it was helpful to be able to look at months' worth of cycles and realize that I always late after Christmas (holiday stress!) or that my cycles were getting longer or shorter.

I never used to keep track - but after trying to get pregnant for 1 year, I thought I had better start. I kept detailed records for 6 months before meeting with the fertility doc, and he was very impressed to see the records I had kept, he made a diagnosis based on symptoms, did the testing to confirm and 4 months later, I am expecting.

So - not that you should just keep track if you are trying to get pregnant, you never know when little bits of information can help make a diagnosis or give the doc just that little bit of information they might need.

I try to remember to put a "p" on the calendar on my phone whenever I get it. My period is never perfectly regular, but this at least gives me an idea as to when it's coming. I also do this so I can tell the doctor when he/she asks. Anytime I go to the doctor, even if it's just for a cold, they ask about my period. I'm like how is that relevant? But whatevs, now I don't have to make something up. I can't count on just PMS to let me know when it's coming. It varies so much. Sometimes my boobs will be sore for two weeks before my period, and sometimes two days, and sometimes not at all.

I monitor and keep track in my planner. I like to make sure my periods are regular. I think that cycle is an important part of female health.

I put it my PDA calendar as TOM for time of month. I also note the flow for the day b/c I have been having some irregularity so I have to report it to my doc (the flow type and when).

On a calendar, I use letter markings under the day and keep a number count. Just when I was becoming regular (35 days) now I've been off (25 days on month, 44 another!) Ugh, so annoying. I usually now when I'm close though; I clean alot and my bust is sore.

I always try to keep track of my period, but I never remember to write it down. Even when I do keep track, my cycle still fluctuates by a few days (usually I go between 27-30 days from the start of each period) so I can never be exactly sure when it's going to come. I usually mark my calendar with a red dot, if I remember, but then it never comes when I think it will. I can just sense if my period is going to come because my boobs get sore, I get really moody, I start eating a ton, and I...uhhh...(TMI alert! TMI alert!) can slightly smell blood a few hours before my period starts. Sorry if I made anyone puke...

I'm pretty much regular. I've recently started tracking it on my phone. I've been doing it for about a year I think. No one goes to the calendar on my phone and most people don't even touch my phone so I'm okay. Most of the time I get these horrible cramps on my right side so I know I have it already or I will get it. In July I didn't have it at all which wasn't normal and I have it now, but it came a week early.

i used to know about the time that i'd get it every month since i was really regular, but now i'm very irregular so i can't even begin to keep track of it. i've started to note it on a calendar but that wasn't proving to be any more helpful.

I'm using NFP, so I'm very aware of everything that's going on. The first day of my period means I start a cycle in charting, so It's really easy for me to look back and remember everything.

To combat endometriosis, I'm on the equiv. of Seasonale. And since my periods are light to begin with, I seem to only be getting them once every six months. Whenever a nurse asks me about my last period, I usually have to think long and hard about the last time. And then they ask if I've taken a pregnancy test recently.
