Even after months and months of planning for a wedding, it's inevitable that something will go wrong. Whether it's a minor hiccup or a full-blown disaster, all brides have been there. How about the pastor forgetting about the wedding? A friend of ours was married atop a mountain on a ski resort (during the summer). After about an hour of waiting, the show went on as planned, but with the bride's two hilarious cousins officiating. They cracked jokes and had everyone laughing and having a good time. By the time the pastor got there, they had exchanged vows just the two of them with the pastor. So what started out as a disaster turned into something the couple loved about their wedding!

My sisters wedding was in a very small town in florida (where her hubby to be grew up) it was THE EVENT of the decade, I am talking front page announcement in the paper! the day of the wedding, the ceremony went fine, but when we got to the reception where the caterers had set up already there were LINES of people out the door, and NONE OF THEM were the wedding guests, the people of this small town just thought they would show up and get a free meal. MY sister flipped out, ran inside, half the food was already being served and she got the microphone and announced that those who werent invited needed to go home to make room for her wedding guests and if they didnt she would call the cops.......most of them left but by that time there wasnt enough food for the real guests, so we ordered about 100 pizzas.....it turned out fine and we have some good memories but its still legendary "the day the townspeople crashed the wedding"

caterpillargirl! That is hilarious! This isn't too bad...but a friend of mine got married at Christmas so she had big red candles everywhere as part of the decorations. Before the ceremony while taking pictures, the photographer asked the bride & groom to pick up the candles for a pose...and you guessed it, red candle wax all down the front of her dress. I wish I could say that it came out, but it didn;t. She was SO cool about it though! She didn't stress out one bit and they airbrushed it out of all the pictures.

another quick story two years ago at my brother in laws wedding, they had three big cheesecakes for thier wedding cake, and her mom decided they were just "too plain" so she went and bought Canned strawberry topping...and dumped them on top of the cheesecake....now imagine a nice white table cloth, white flowers, creamy white pristine cheesecake....and a bloodbath on top.

Thankfully nothing bad happened at my wedding, but I have a few I witnessed or heard about When my parents got married the photographer had been in a motorcycle accident the day before, so he was late and doped up on pain meds so half of their pictures didnt turn out When my in-laws got married the day before the wedding the tux place BURNED DOWN and they had to scramble to find tuxes for all the guys I was the maid of honor in a wedding where one of the bridesmaids and the flowergirl (the bridesmaid's daughter) didnt show up. Well she got there literally 2 minutes before my friend was walking down the aisle, but we had already thrown the dress on another girl and the bride told her, "Go home, youve been replaced". This wasnt the wedding but the honeymoon- a friend of a friend is on her honeymoon and her new in-laws showed up at their hotel room door and expected to stay with them. No joke. They didnt see anything wrong with it bc they were paying for the trip. Apparently they had all gotten along just fine until then- she doesnt really speak to them anymore. And they dont think they did anything wrong. I promptly went to my future in-laws and told them that story and was relieved when they both were horrified. lol

Hmm. I have lurked on this site for probably two years and never posted anything before. Being a straight male, I usually don't have anything to add. Until now. I was married last November. On the Friday night, at the rehearsal dinner, the bride became sick to her stomach. In fact, as time went on, she got sicker. She missed the entire rehearsal dinner because she was lying in my old bed, shivering and sick. Her parents took her to their house, where she (and they) was up all night with a violent case of stomach flu. None of them got any sleep. So, at 10:30 am on the day of her wedding, the bride was taken by ambulance to the emergency room of the local hospital, a mere 6 hours before she was due to walk down the aisle. I was with her there - she received medication, IV drips & prescriptions and we left at 1:00 pm, with 3.5 hours to go. She got dropped off, and got an hour of sleep, got dressed and managed to get through the ceremony and dinner at the reception. After dinner was over, I got sick. We rushed through the speeches, the dancing and we left our own wedding reception early (10:00 pm) and were home and in bed an hour later. What a day. I was never more determined to do something in my life as I was to fight the nausea I was feeling during the speeches.

i was part of a wedding where we went to the reception and the place filled up with guests.. the bride and groom hadn't arrived because they went to go take pictures. out of nowhere a glass door broke - and the people in charge of the hall come to see -and were upset... more than the capacity startd coming in - and when the bride and groom finally arrived they immediately had to deal with the people in charge of the hall, they said there were too many people here and were in no way trying to cooperate with the newlywed couple. long story short - they whole party was kicked out! they didn't get to sit, they didn't get to eat, they didn't get to cut the cake, they didn't get to greet anyone, nothing... and you saw all us bridesmaids starting to pack up all the decortations. mariachi arrived and while we started cleaning up - we let them at least have one dance and all you could see was them both crying.

Last summer one of my sorority sisters got married and I was a bridesmaid. Now she is a girl who cannot handle stress so when lots of little things went wrong she freaked out. Let's begin...well during the wedding the Pastor cell phone went off in his pocket and took it out while speaking to turn it off, then when she was doing he vows with her husband, her dress fell into these baptism ponds (which after the wedding she immediately began crying about it), then we found out that almost none of the wedding was video taped b/c the battery died b/c no one charged it, then once we got to the reception, the husband's wedding band fell off b/c it was sized too big, and he couldn't find it, no one told my friend though or she would have just died, then he found it, it had fallen in the cuff of his pants, then they were going to have a slide show presentation and the disc was left in the camera bag, which was left in the church, then the DJ started the music before the bride and groom could have their first dance, and yeah lots of little things that just turned into big problems. oy vey haha

at my friend's wedding: - the reverend cancelled the day before because he and his wife had just decided to get a divorce and he didn't want to reflect badly on the wedding i think that sums it up - but they still had a blast somehow!

I heard this one from an acquaintance: She married a man who had a bunch of kids with his ex, but doesn't have much to do with the kids anymore. The ex showed up at the church and abandoned the kids there with nothing but the filthy clothes on their back, saying "Daddy's new wife is going to take care of you from now on." If I remember right, the vows were already exchanged at that point. The reception was cut short and the "honeymoon" was spent with three crying kids in the bed. She even had to buy the kids some clothes and necessities out of her own pocket. The marriage was eventually successfully annulled.

At my cousin's wedding reception one of her guests had a heart attacked and died. I (fortunately) was not there because I was still a child, but my parents were and they still talk about how horrible it was. Talk about a bad way to start your marriage!

On my mom's friend's wedding, the mother forgot to bring the wedding dress to the hotel they were staying so the bride had to find some other alternative to wear (the wedding dress was in Toronto and the wedding was in British Columbia). And I heard some news where the bride died during the first dance. =S

Nothing too too bad, but one of my best friends got married on a cruise to the Bahamas/Key West. They mixed up her vows with another couple's and they also forgot to bring a CD player to her wedding site so she could have music to walk down the "aisle" too. She was beyond pissed.

At a family friend's wedding, they somehow mangaged to forget the rings! Someone in the wedding party whispered it in the front row, and all the women started pulling their rings off to use for the ceremony. Not a horrible problem, but it is a little sad to have to use someone else's ring for the wedding ceremony!

I worked at a wedding where the brides mom arranged for this NICE ASS lambergini (not sure how to spell that) car to arrive to pick up the bride and groom to drive to the reception hall. Well the groom got to drive it there. Yea...he got PULLED OVER on the way to the reception hall for accidentally squealing the tires! He got a ticket for reckless driving!! $365!!! hahah It was hilarious...the cop must have been a huge ass to give the bride and groom a ticket while the brides in her wedding dress and the groom in his tucks!! WoW!!

okay, some of these are pretty bad, so mine might seem lame but, two of my friends just got civilly married a couple weeks ago - and had all of us (their close friends) there. well, they're standing there in front of the judge. now the bride had given her purse (which had the groom's wallet and cell phone in it) to her sister to hold during the ceremony. anyway, about 5 minutes after it had begun, the groom's phone rang. the bride's sister, not thinking, handed it to the groom, and he answered it! the funniest thing is watching the video and seeing the bride look over at the groom with just this look of disbelief and anger...

When my sister got married, she had her hair done professionally. She had an allergic reaction to the hairspray they used to plaster her hair up. She broke out in big, ugly hives. She had to jump in the bathtub filled with oatmeal, re-shampoo her hair, and re-do it herself. Needless to say, she was an hour late for her own wedding.... and still covered in hives!! She had to reassure her hubby that it was NOT a case of nerves, just allergies. They are still happily married going on 15 years. A friend of mine had a wedding I will never forget: it was during Hurricane Hugo and it was an *outdoor* reception. There was so much mud, she had to do radical surgery on her gown before the reception, whacking off about 10 inches so it wouldn't drag in the mud. Everyone's shoes got ruined. Then halfway through the reception, the tent caved in because of too much water on top of it.... The bride was in tears and she does not like to be reminded of her wedding, but she and her hubby are also still going strong 15 or so years later.

Forgot about the wedding where nobody's eyes were on the bride... everyone couldn't help but stare at the best man. He had breasts. He was going through sex reassignment. This was 20 years ago, when it wasn't very common. That couple is divorced now... the groom eventually decided he also wanted sex reassignment surgery.

My husband's friend "Ted" got married last year. Ted's groomsmen took him out for his bachelor party the night before the wedding (never a good idea). Ted got wasted at the strip club and during a lap dance, a stripper _covered_ him in hickeys. They were completely obvious during the ceremony the next day. Then, the bride got so drunk at the reception that she did a keg stand, in her wedding dress, in front of all the guests. The father of the bride was so embarrassed and angry that he kicked the best man out of the wedding, causing a huge scene. It was trailor-trashtastic.

It wasn't necisarily the wedding day that went wrong for me... although we did have bumps that day. My grandmother died the week of my wedding. We burried her 3 days before the ceremony. Now the things that went wrong the day of... I had ordered my flowers wholesale and was planning on making the bouquets myself... well FEDEX didn't deliver them on time so they were a day late and wilted... but we made it work... it just really stressed me out. The tuxes were too big and the bm dresses didnt' get in till the week before the wedding so there was no time for alterations. We ran out of food because more people showed up than we invited... we actually ran out of seats for people. Oh and our programs had the wrong date in them... 3-16-2007 instead of 3-16-2008... and names were mispelled. the worst wedding disaster that I've ever been to or seen was my cousin's wedding. She gained like 50lbs and didn't fit into her dress at all! Her gma had to put a knee in her back just to lace it up... (she was already a big girl to start with). That wedding had lots of mishaps.

Not really a wedding ceremony story, but one I've never forgotten: the bride got pregnant on the night of her bachelorette party. Someone had hired an African-American male stripper. 9 months later, white bride and white groom had a - you guessed it - biracial baby!

One of my best friends sisters got married when I was about 15. The MOH had come in from out of town and was sick and got the bride sick. It was a long Catholic Mass with the worlds most boring Priest. Right before the vows, she had to excuse herself to go puke. She came back about 20 minutes later and they carried on. She is still happily married. I was last minute bridesmaid and we had these horrible dresses with tulle for the skirt at an outdoor wedding. By the end of the nigth, my skirt looked like a bug catcher. It was so disgusting.

The worst wedding day I ever heard? In Israel, the dance floor at a wedding reception broke and the guests fell through the floor. It was tragic. You can still see the footage on You Tube.

After my aunt's wedding reception they loaded up the car and went to a hotel for their wedding nite. While they were signing in for the room, someone robbed their car of all of their wedding presents, cash, and luggage with her "wedding night apparel" and clothes for the honeymoon. She was so upset and uncomfortable staying there, that they drove to her mother-in-laws and spent the night there!

Wow, lots of bad (but funny) stories. I got married in October of 2007. It had some minor glitches, but all in all it was a great wedding. Here's the glitches: my sister couldn't find the wedding ring my Granny wanted to give me (they live in NJ, I live in OK), but that was ok because my M-I-L let me wear this 3 karat ring that has been in her family (in March she gave it to me to keep), my sister couldn't come down being she was in her third trimester(she ended up having her baby the day of the wedding), my Granny had planned to fly down with my Mom, until a week before she broke her hip, and was in the hospital for 3 weeks, my father's health wasn't too good so that's why I only had my mom at my wedding (it's ok, I love my inlaws and their big fam), we decided to be our own D.J.s but when it came time to walk down the aisle, my funny stepson changed to SHUFFLE and the song I wanted to play wasn't playing, so had to get a friend to change it back. All in all, it was a great wedding, I chickened out on our first dance, but the food and drinks kept coming and we got a LOT of wedding presents. We didn't find out that my sister had a baby until later that night after the wedding. She was 5 weeks early, but she is completely healthy now. Good ending here.

not sure where this fits but it sticks in my mind. About 14 months later- she's with his best friend/man (ending his marriage) and he's with a man living up north. Happy(?) ending- 12 yrs later she's still with the best friend/man but won't marry again and they have 4 more kids, so 6 kids total between them.

The bride and groom forgot to book off the surrounding streets for parking so throughout the ceremony people had to keep running off and putting money into their parking meters or continually moving their cars.
