Dear Poll: Do You Prefer to Hang With Other Couples?

As a relationship progresses, it’s likely that there will eventually come a time when you’re with your boyfriend more than you’re apart from him. And even though you might love spending time with your single friends, it’s sometimes easier to hang out with other couples — you get your girl time while simultaneously hanging with your boyfriend, who’s also totally entertained.

Though it’s important to spend time with all your friends regardless of their relationship status, tell me ladies, when you’re taken, do you prefer spending time with other couples?

Oh it's not that I like hanging out with "just the girls", I just enjoy single people more than double dates. There always seems to be more awkward moments and a really bizzarre atmosphere that somehow ends up tension-filled in one way or another.

I actually end up hanging out with my boyfriend and his friends ... I just wish I could also hangout with his friend's girlfriends. They always seem to get left behind, and I'm left wishing that there were some girls around so I can hang out instead of drifting off when the guys are talking or doing something that really doesn't include me.

As a single girl, I can put it out there to all the gals in relationships that it really hurts to get snubed or to not be included in plans just because you're not part of a twosome. When I find out friends have made plans without me or hear about things my friends have done it really upsets me not to get included. I don't get it, just because I'm single does that mean I'm not fun to hang out with? This is an issue i've dealt with on and off during the times I've been single. I guess one of the reasons I'm so put off by it is that when I'm in a relationship I try to spend time and make plans with ALL my friends, single or not single.

i like to double-date! but we haven't had another couple to do that with for a long time. there has to be the right click between the men and the women and then the couples all together (kids that get along would be nice). the couple we use to do lots of things with moved about 4 hours away. we are currently looking for a new couple, lol. what's the term for that?

When I am in a relationship I would rather hang out with my single friends. I find that when I hang out with other couples we don't talk about anything that interests everyone in the group.

I agree with AmyLyn about being excluded from "couples events" when you are single. It is obnoxious and inconsiderate - if you are friends with someone (and especially when you are friends with most of the couples in the group) it is rude and in really bad social form to exclude someone simply because they are single. I did it once and hurt one of my friends bad enough that I feel that it has effected our friendship to this day - a mistake I will never make again.

I'm dating my best friend's husband's best friend, so we do couples stuff all the time and it's never awkward or anything. She and I can go shopping while the guys do guy stuff and it's great. I like going out with couples better than my single friends because they seem to all complain about dating crap.

When I'm in a relationship, I like to be with my guy a lot so it's easier to double date with other couples/friends than it is to schedule alone time.

My husband and I hang out with our other married friends most of the time...when you're married, it usually happens that way.

I agree with other posters up there, its so rude to ignore your single friends just because you're in a relationship. My friend started dating this guy a couple months ago and now she only hangs out with these two other couples most of the time. Sad

Honestly like I just like being with my honey and then doing girls things seperately. He and I just have a good time together and plus I tend to compare myself to others a lot so I''ll be like oh that couple does this and that, it's a bad habit I am so trying to break.

I don't have any friends who are currently single, so we always hang out with couples.

The hardest part is finding couples that we like both of the other people equally, like I have a really good friend from grade school that my husband also knew in high school, but his wife is really annoying most of the time, so they are hard to hang out with. I dont mind inviting my single friends, but I dont want them to feel uncomfortable and sometimes when I invite a single friend over my husband feels like we dont want him hanging out with us and he retreats to another part of the house.
We have one couple we like to hang out with, but the guy in the couple works really weird hours so its hard to hang out with both of them, and my best friend and her bf are SO PDA when they are together its nauseating- so I would rather hang out with her with him most of the time.

I'm always the odd one out, but I think most of the time I manage well when I'm with couples around me, the only awkward moments are when they start fighting or begin to touch each other a little "too much" in front of people, I consider both things to be very rude.
But most of the time, it's okay.

A funny thing: while I don't mind hanging with couples being single,
I've got two friends that were in a relationship with guys, and sometimes when they were in a club or at a party with their boyfriends, it always seemed to me that the one that had been dating for a longer time would get jealous of the steamy chemistry that my other friend had with her own boyfriend, so for moments she (and the boyfriend, although I doubt that he realized or did it consciously) tried to compete with them, starting to get touchy feely and making out with her boyfriend, like trying to show off in front of everybody else, when in fact the people who knew her and her boyfriend knew that she wasn't generally like that, and actually kept pushing away the guy when they were in public. Weird.
