Yeah. Superstar marathon men might be rare, but don't accuse us of lying if we've got one.

When my boyfriend and I first started dating, he'd go forever but then I told him I like quickies and he seemed a little shocked. I guess I prefer little snacks during the day and an entree at night. I'm just not as likely to want to start something often when I know it's going to last long.

I wonder if marathon men are more likely to die of a brain aneurysm since holding back causes brain damage.

I really don't like long, drawn-out sex sessions. Ours are usually 10-15 minutes.

I'd rather it be quicker. There have been times that we draw it out and the longer it is the less enjoyable it becomes -- (i'll try to do this w/out TMI) I start to get tired and things are as lubricated and then I am sore the next day.

    Now foreplay... that's different Smiling

i don't like when it (intercourse, not foreplay) lasts forever. it seriously starts to get a little boring after a while. i usually orgasm the first time in the first five minutes. after that i'll probably do it once more before he does. some guys go FOREVER without finishing and in my opinion it gets a bit boring.

I agree, 10 to 15 minutes is quite enough. I have a good time, orgasm once or twice; after about 15 minutes, I'm not going to reach that finish line again.

I'd rather it be quicker too, so we can do it again. Watching him double orgasm and having one too is so sexy!

I just read an article that said that quicker sex makes for more frequent sex. I don't know how they decided upon that, but they said that 13 minutes is the perfect average. Sounds good to me!

"Fifty members of the Society for Sex Therapy and Research in the U.S. and Canada were surveyed by Corty, an associate professor of psychology at Penn State Erie, The Behrend College, and student Jenay Guardiani. Thirty-four members, or 68 percent, responded, although some said the optimal time depended on the couple."

    Yeah, really, utterly scientific.

First off, I think I'll go with the some that said 'the optimal time depended on the couple.' Second, not all men are build anatomically equal. I'm sure there are some men who can't last more than 2 minutes at the mere thought of sex while others may have to do a lot more during sex to get off. Some women can achieve a vaginal orgasm because they're just that sensitive inside. I can't. I need clitoral stimulation. So, who's to say a penis' sensitivity can't vary from man to man? If it takes a man 45 minutes to get off, awesome. If it takes a man 2 minutes to get off, that's awesome, too. Everyone's sexual chemistry is different. There is no 'optimal'. Some sex therapists make me laugh.

I COMPLETELY agree with your point Meikie. To set one "normal" or "healthy" time is like saying every single human being on this earth has the exact same anatomy, needs, sensitivity etc. ...not buying it..infact that is totally LAMEE!!

We can't take this as gold and run with it though. The survey took 50 people and did a survey. Those 50 cannot represent the entire world. That is a rather small sample. I say make the best of the sex you have, and stop looking or thinking about how long it will last for, and enjoy it while it lasts:)

To be honest the whole 45 minutes is waaay overrated (I'm not counting foreplay here.) My rule of thumb- both of us should be satisfied. Oh, and after I'm done, you should finish up pretty soon afterwards. Then we can go again later. But really, the whole idea of going at it for ages like that- sounds painful and a bit like someone's just looking for bragging rights.

My boyfriend told me about this research a few weeks ago. Apparently, women prefer 10-13 minutes, and if it gets drawn out, they end up getting bored. I think younger men can go longer, but they also tire out and have difficulty performing more later. Long sessions are also bad for female lubrication...that stuff actually does start running low.

I personally think the whole thing is silly. I mean as long as you like it who cares how lon git goes/ I personally like it to go on for a while I don't get bored with intercourse at all. I also haven't ever seen the point in quickies. I'd rather be a few minutes late and fully satisfied than to start but not finish. And honestly 7.3 minutes is much shorter than our average time and that's not about bragging it's just true. Why does anyone feel the need to normalize or standardize lovemaking, it's supposed to be fun

7.3 mins sounds good to me. I think we usually go a bit longer. My fiance to me, seems under the impression that longer is better, but I think that a lot of guys don't understand that the fluids run a little low if you take too long -- which makes for a pretty painful post-sex experience. The longest my man and I have gone is around 30 mins, any longer than that, and I would get so bored and frustrated to the point of tears. Sometimes when we have sex, and 15 minutes is coming up, I'm like UGH, can you just get it over with already? Haha.

Ha! I knew it. I hate when women brag about how long it lasted if he's going that long it's not always good sex. One of my male friends said that he's had sex for 8 hours. No way since he can't even walk across the house without getting winded.

sometimes my guy can last longer (like +30 min.), sometimes it takes a few minutes. it has nothing to do with him taking care of business beforehand either. it's just really weird and inconsistent.

if it's one of those longer sessions though, it just gets painful!

In my opinion very long sessions are boring unless if it is a "special occasion", for me on regular days 10- 15 minutes are o.k.....

Wow, I was wrong on both. I think the need another survey, or am I giving the men too much credit on how long I think they actually go.
