Even the most optimistic people feel down every once and a while; it’s only human. But sometimes, one day of feeling sad turns into a week and then a month and before you know it, you’ve go a bad case of the blues. The only thing worse than finding yourself in one of these phases, is having to watch a friend go through it.

You can be the best listener ever, but sometimes the only thing that works is a girl intervention, you know, when you and your friends plan an amazing day or evening for her in order to lift her spirits. There’s just nothing like a girl intervention to remind someone that they’re loved, and let's be honest, we all could use the reminder from time to time. So does your group of friends do this for each other, too? What are your tricks for cheering up your friends when life gets them down?

Im not really the kind of person who tries to push myself into other business. My friends know that I will always be there if they need me, and will come to me if they need my help. I know that when Im feeling down, it only irritates me when people try to cheer me up, i just want to mope for a while!

if my friends are down (like marriage is in the crapper. didn't get that promotion. business is failing due to bad investing . . .) I am usually the one who rounds up the girls ( there are about 13 of us who are very close and remember when boogers were better than boys: i ate yellow play-dough, myself).

once everyone is together and free, we go to the Mexican Riviera (it's a close trip from L.A on a boat. easy weekend getaway). nothing makes you feel better than to run around in a bikini drinking premium drinks and having girl talk with your friends.

Yes, we do! My best friends did this for me this weekend, as a matter of fact.

A group of my friends & I just finished school & are all having a tough time getting our dream jobs due to the rough economy so we've all been having a bit of a rough time lately... we've committed to weekend brunches together which is always good to put us in good moods Smiling

Absolutely. This is a must. Nothing brings you back from the brink like a night or day or weekend out with the ladies.

Everybody in my inner circle are introverts, like myself. I guess birds of the same feather do flock together.

So whenever we're going through trying times, we tend to withdraw into ourselves to sort things out, and come up with a resolution. This works for us, and we prefer to operate in this way. We wouldn't like an intervention.

However, I notice we send sympathy cards and letters to a troubled friend to show that we care, and we're available for support if we're needed. We would inform each other we're on stand-by, which is different from an intervention. Also, from time to time, we would check-in on the troubled person to lend some support or morale (if it's needed).

Generally, this is how my close friends and I look out for each other. We're introverts. We give each other needed space, and we're on stand-by if that friend needs us.
